Lateral osteotomy through an existing alar base incision eliminates an additional incision in the vestibule. It sections the fibromuscular alar framework and the nasal bony framework from the alar crease below to the nasofrontal suture line above. This method affords detachment and free movement of the bony arch and ala as a unit.
