We report on the physical and chemical properties of the photoproduct series obtained in the low temperature photopolymerization reactions of diacetylene crystals. The initiation, the addition and chain termination reactions are discussed. A one-dimensional electron gas model is applied to the optical absorption series of the diradical and asymmetric carbene intermediates as well as on the stable oligomer molecules. A reaction model of the photopolymerization reaction in diacetylene crystals is presented.
