We report experimental results on a new type of resonance induced in a single dielectric film. In our system, a single dielectric layer, evaporated onto a prism base, acts as a Fabry - Perot-type cavity, with narrow resonances around the cut-off frequency. Near a resonance, this device, which is simpler than those based on a multilayered structure, has been used for amplifying the Goos - Hänchen shift.
