Energy-loss cross sections, differential in energy and angle, are presented for 500 eV electrons incident on O2 and CO in the angular range of 10°–30° for O2 and 6°–30° for CO. This region of the ionized continuum was studied with an energy resolution (Δ ε/ε) of 1.5% and an angular resolution of about 1.5°. The cross sections were placed on an absolute scale by normalizing to Bromberg's elastic scattering data. Integration of the differential energy-loss cross sections over angle yielded energy-loss cross sections, differential with respect to energy, for O2 of 0.078 a02/eV at 30 eV, 0.042 a02/eV at 50 eV, 0.013 a02/eV at 80 eV and 0.065 a02/eV at 100 eV. Corresponding cross sections for CO were 0.0077 a02/eV at 80 eV and 0.0043 a02/eV at 100 eV.
