The Auger coefficient for quenching of manganese luminescence by free carriers in ZnSe:Mn has been measured. Its value is 5*10 -10 cm 3 s -1 . This value is similar to that found for ZnS:Mn and is anomalously large. A possible explanation involving energy band matching is discussed.
