On the basis of a microhardness scaling law found for the AIIBIVC compounds and of the dependence of the microhardness on conductivity type and composition observed experimentally in CuInSe2 a model is proposed to describe the trends in the microhardness of the CuBIIIC compounds. The results are compared with experimental data and other microhardness estimates. It is found that most of the existing microhardness measurements can be interpreted within the model.
