A new class of chiral, nonlinear optical polymers, donor-embedded polybinaphthalenes, was prepared and evaluated for their nonlinear optical response. The polymers were synthesized by a Stille reaction between a bis(trimethyltin) binaphthyl derivative and dibromo-functionalized chromophores. The polymers showed a good nonlinear optical response (up to 13.5 pm/V), of which a significant portion was due to chirality.
