Attempts have been made to analyse data from rectification in a wetted‐wall column in terms of postulated equations for film values of the height of a transfer unit (HTU) values. Discrepancies found in some of the correlations are no greater than are to be expected from our lack of knowledge of physical characteristics of the binary mixtures, notably of the diffusion coefficient in the liquid phase.
