Translational energy spectra of the Ne + ions produced by one-electron capture processes in Ne 2+ ( 3 P, 1 D, 1 S)-H 2 collisions were observed with a high-resolution spectrometer. It was ascertained that the process Ne 2+ ( 1 S)+H 2 (X 1 Sigma , v'=0) to Ne + ( 2 S)+H 2 + (X 2 Sigma , v=0-8) is the principal reaction channel. No peaks corresponding to the charge transfer processes initiated from Ne 2+ ( 3 P and 1 D) were observed except for weak and diffuse signals attributed to the dissociative charge transfer process. This can be explained by the concept of the 'reaction window', viz. the R c dependence of the cross sections. The relative cross sections for vibrational excitation of products H 2 + and their collision energy dependence were measured in the incident ion energy range from 0.5 to 2 keV.
