In the isotopic CD + radical the emission spectra of eight bands of the A 1 Π - X 1 Σ + system have been obtained using a Geissler-type discharge tube. The spectra have been photographed at high resolution and Th standard lines have been used as a calibration spectrum. The bands relating to the nu "=2 and 3 levels have been observed for the first time. By means of a direct fit and the merged calculus, improved molecular constants for both electronic states have been computed: for the A 1 Π state - B v , D v , H v , q v , q Dv , and for X 1 Σ + state - B v , D v , H v , and the value T(A-X) ν'ν" as well as the equilibrium constants for the X 1 Σ + state. Vibrational constants of the ground state, found for the first time as a result of direct analysis of the A 1 Π - X 1 Σ + system in CD + are as follows (in cm -1 ): ω e = 2099.131 (31), ω e x e = 32.024 (22), ω e y e = 0.0974 (41).
