Amorphous structures are described by an ensemble of competing configurations where the probability distribution is constructed by model assumptions. This model leads to a three‐dimensional array of atoms with short‐range order but without long‐range order. The applicability is restricted to finite but sufficiently large clusters which transform at vanishing disorder to a primitive crystalline lattice. An analytical expression is obtained for the radial distribution function depending on one adjustable parameter.
