While basic nutritional studies on shrimps and prawns have been few, the results of a considerable number of dietary trials, carried out under controlled conditions, have been published, principally in the U.S.A., Japan and the U.K. This paper is a condensed version of a review of published work in this field (New, 1976). The difficulties of making quantitative comparisons between the work of different authors are discussed and some suggestions for standardizing techniques and improving data presentation in dietary trials with shrimp are made.
