An O(ρ ⁴ ) collocation method (ρ the mesh size) is presented for solving elliptic partial differential equations on the unit square and a convergence proof is given. The method is shown to compare favorably with the Ritz–Galerkin method, and some numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.
