A significant amount of CO2 gas is generated from sinter plants. To decrease CO2 emissions from sinter plants, it is necessary to reduce the fuel ratio in the sinter mix. The current study aims to clarify the effect of recycling sinter dust as calcium ferrite on sinter quality. The addition of calcium ferrite promoted a drop in sintering temperature and pore size distribution, and also increased the amount of SFCA-related phases. The aforementioned modifications were determinant to the improvement of the physical properties of sinter. The emission of CO2, NO and SO2 could be expected to decrease by 55, 60 and 41%, respectively.
