Construction of an all-Pyrex stopped flow apparatus capable of high vacuum and variable temperature operation is described. The thermostated system is capable of studying reactions from above room temperature to −40°C. The closed system has been used to study the fast reaction of the ammoniated electron with the ammonium ion in liquid ammonia at −35°C.
