Satureja genus presents 14 aromatic species in Iran, eight of them are endemic. In this research, the aerial parts of Satureja boissieri Hausskn. ex Boiss. were collected in full flowering stage, from Eastern North of Iran. The essential oil was obtained by hydro-distillation, using a Clevenger-type apparatus. The oil was analyzed by capillary gas chromatography, using flame ionization and mass spectrometric detection. Twelve components were identified in the oil of S. boissieri representing 98.9% of the oil. The main constituents were thymol (29.6%), carvacrol (28.4%), γ-terpinene (17.3%), and p-cymene (17.1%).
