The thermal rate constant for partial charge exchange of Ar++ in collisions with Ar has been measured in the pressure range 0.1–0.55 Torr using the radial method in the negative glow of a cylindrical hollow cathode in pure argon. The rate constant is found to be k =4.1±2.1×10−13 cm s−1, independent of pressure.
