This paper examines the effects of procedures for both ground motion record selection and scaling on performance-based engineering tools underlying emerging seismic design procedures for engineered wood-frame structures. Specifically, the effects of record selection and scaling on the distribution of peak interstory drift and seismic fragilities are investigated analytically considering three midrise archetype structures that were considered as part of two seismic performance projects. The results provide important information on the sensitivity of response distributions and fragilities to choices of record selection and scaling procedures that can inform evolving performance-based engineering procedures for both seismic design and assessment of wood-frame structures.
