Eigenvalue and Eigenvector Determination for Damped Gyroscopic Systems

We derive and examine a new method that uses the undamped gyroscopic system as the unperturbed system. The accuracy and convergence of the new method are independent of the size of the gyroscopic terms. Futhermore, the method permits a numerically efficient solution of the eigen problem for damped gyroscopic systems because it can use the approach of Meirovitch (1974) to solve the eigenproblem for the unperturbed system
