Abstract 1. 1. Two cases of irreducible volar dislocation of the proximal interphalangeal joint of the finger are reported. 2. 2. The central slip of the extensor mechanism was found to be the interposed tissue by surgical exploration. 3. 3. Open reduction is the only treatment for this unusual dislocation.
