This study compares internal and external Employee Assistance Program service models through utilization and cost-effectiveness at a nuclear power plant. The relationship of utilization rate to the presence of a part-time external EAP program and a full-time internal EAP program over a three year period is examined. The effects of the consumer'S grapevine will also be discussed. This study suggests that utilization and cost-effectiveness are significantly increased with the presence of the acculturated internal director via utilization analyses. Implications of these findings are discussed.
