In order to use radioactive rhodium N-heterocyclic carbene (Rh NHC) complexes for possible cancer therapy, it is required to start with RhCl 3 · x H 2 O, a synthesis not previously accomplished. We have successfully synthesized and characterized two new Rh (NHC) complexes starting from RhCl 3 · x H 2 O via a silver transfer mechanism.
