Laboratory studies were conducted to investigate the fecundity of greenbug, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) biotype E, on wheat, Triticum aestivum L., conditioned by previous feeding of the Russian wheat aphid, Diuraphis noxia (Mordvilko), and greenbug biotype E. After 10 d of feeding, the fecundity of greenbug biotype E was significantly greater on sites conditioned by D. noxia than on controls. Wheat conditioned by greenbug biotype E did not significantly affect any of the parameters measured. The feeding behavior of green bug biotype E on wheat conditioned by D. noxia was electronically monitored for 12 h. Results of the electronic monitoring indicated that wheat conditioned by D. noxia did not significantly affect any of the greenbug feeding behaviors measured. Wheat fields infested with D. noxia may create a favorable environment for greenbug reproduction.
