Photoaddition of aromatic ketones to 1‐methylthio‐1‐propyne affords, via C3O‐cycloaddition, 4,4‐diaryl‐3‐methylthio‐3‐buten‐2‐ones in good yields. Analogously acetone gives 4‐methyl‐3‐methylthio‐3‐penten‐2‐one (CH3)2CC(SCH3)COCH3, together with some 1,2‐bis(methylthio)‐1‐propene CH3C(SCH3)CH‐SCH3.
