This work is focused on evaluation of mustard husk ash as reinforcement for aluminium matrix composite. Aluminium mustard husk ash composite has been prepared using powder metallurgy technique. Weight per cent of mustard husk ash in aluminium matrix was varied as 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% while compaction pressure was kept constant to study the effect of reinforcement on various properties of the composites like density, hardness and wear resistance. Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy and x-ray Diffraction techniques were utilised to study the morphology of the composite. Density of the prepared composites decreased with increase in weight per cent of mustard husk ash. It was observed that composites containing 7.5% of mustard husk ash have better hardness and wear resistance.
