SUMMARY Eubacterium limosum (Eggerth 193 5) Prévot 1938 and Butyribacterium rettgeri Barker and Haas 1 944 have been shown to be synonymous. The name Butyribacterium limosum comb. nov. is proposed for this species. ATCC strain 8486 is designated as the type strain.
