The molecular composition of 1%valine-labeled protein in extracts of thyroid glands was found to be strongly dependent on temperature in some species and independent in others.In guinea pig extracts most of the radioactivity was in 19 S thyroglobulin at 23" but appeared in its 12 S subunit after standing at 2' for 36 hours.
