The in vitro sensitivities of 181 isolates of Pasteurella multocida of turkey origin to 18 chemotherapeutic agents, and of 34 isolates to two drugs, were determined by the paper-disc method. Most isolates (over 96%) of P. multocida were sensitive to chlortetracycline, chloromycetin, erythromycin, novobiocin, penicillin, polymyxin B, terramycin, tetracycline, furadantin, furacin, and furoxone. A majority were also sensitive to kanamycin and neomycin, although respectively 27% and 21% were only slightly sensitive to them. Most (82%) of the isolates were resistant to bacitracin, whereas respectively 97% and 83% were slightly sensitive to oleandomycin and streptomycin. Most isolates were resistant to sulfadiazine and slightly sensitive to gantrisin. Sensitivity to sulfathiazole varied among the isolates.
