A method is proposed for obtaining values for the solubility of substances in a supercritical fluid using measurements of chromatographic retention. The assumptions involved are discussed and preliminary measurements on naphthalene and 1-methylnaphthalene in C02 at 308 K have been made which show the feasibility of the method.
