M W McElhinny London: Cambridge University Press 1913 pp x + 351 price £8.50 This book is a valuable account of palaeomagnetism : the deciphering of the record of changes in the earth's magnetic field through geological time from the determinations of the remanent magnetization of rocks. While the author's account of the modern development of the subject is somewhat sketchy, he surveys and summarizes what is at present known from the data in different continents with considerable success and it will be of great use to workers in this field.
