Silver cyanide (AgCN) micro-rods were easily and environmental friendly produced via a pulsed laser ablation to a AgNO3 solution, where N,N-dimethylformamide (N,N-DMF) was used as a solvent and a precursor of the cyanide (CN −) ions, as well. Ablating with an intense laser to N,N-DMF in the presence of AgNO3 produces the cyanide ions, which recombine to the dissolved Ag+ ions, producing AgCN nanoparticles and eventually forming AgCN micro-rods.
