An analysis by computer of electromyographic data is developed as part of a standard procedure for the study of oral function. The complete examination, a series, consists of two (or more) identical parts recorded with the electrodes in different positions. Computer‐analysis includes: (1) statistical comparison of the parts contributing to a series, (2) calculation of the mean, standard deviation, and standard error of each parameter from a whole series, (3) comparison with normal material, and (4) graphic presentation of the coordination in time and intensity during chewing and swallowing.
