Validation study demonstrates synchronous lightning signal capture in offshore wind turbines, suggesting improved remote detection of blade damage.
To remotely determine whether the impeller of an offshore wind turbine is damaged by lightning, a three-channel lightning acquisition card based on an STM32F407 microcontroller and 4G communication is designed in this study. This acquisition card can quickly respond to any trigger signal from a three-channel lightning sensor and perform synchronous and accurate acquisition. It can also use the 4G wireless communication module and Flash storage module to transmit and store data in a timely manner. The test results show that the acquisition card can capture lightning signals quickly and with high precision. The sampling waveform is highly consistent with the actual waveform, and the peak amplitude deviation is less than 1%. At the same time, the acquisition card can save the sampling data before the lightning trigger and provide comprehensive data support for the subsequent analysis and processing of lightning strike events.
