Inspired by the principles of green chemistry, we have developed a microwave‐assisted and economically viable method for the synthesis of a library of thioethers from various substituted thiophenols with substituted haloarenes using a copper catalyst in a guanidinium ionic liquid (GIL) medium. Using a metal catalyst to form the C─S bond in a GIL is considered a sustainable green chemistry strategy. This protocol provides the efficient synthesis of a broad spectrum of thioethers under mild reaction conditions. The effective recyclability and reusability of GIL up to five cycles have been performed very successfully, which are the additional advantages of this method.
