Habitat constraints, life history strategies, and physiology of nematodes, examined by habitat type and trophic guild, affect size—frequency distributions. Although unimodal size—frequency distributions have been found for many animal taxa, nematodes have a strongly biomadal size—frequency distribution, apparently because of the dichotomy in life history strategies between vertebrate parasites and other nematodes.
