It is demonstrated that it is possible to calculate, a priori, the dipole moments of the cis-derivatives of Mo(CO)6−nLn. The partial moment Mo—CO in Mo(CO)6 can be obtained from the measured dipole moments of ArMo(CO)3. Attempts are made to explain the differences observed between the measured and calculated dipole moments. [Journal translation]
