Charge transfer in low-energy (1 eV to 1 keV amu-1) C4+/H collisions is investigated within the framework of the molecular model, taking account of translation effects and of all radial and rotational coupling mechanisms. The influence of rotational coupling-which can prove to be considerable in some circumstances-depends quite strongly on the energy splitting at long distances. A three-state model for electron capture into the 3p state of C3+ illustrates the selective nature of the conditions for which the contribution of rotational coupling may become appreciable.
