Uniform α-nucleus potential in a wide range of masses and energies

We have reanalyzed elastic {α} scattering data on many target nuclei from ⁴⁰Ca up to ²⁰⁸Pb over a wide range of energies. Using double-folded potentials we have obtained excellent agreement between the experimental scattering data and our optical model calculations. In addition, bound state properties have been calculated successfully. A systematic behavior of the energy and mass dependence of the strengths of the real and imaginary potentials has been found. {} 1996 The American Physical Society.
