Abstract 1. (1) An example of micro-drepanocytic disease, arising from the inheritance of the trait of thalassaemia from the father and of the sickle-trait from the mother, is described in an Arab girl. 2. (2) The condition was complicated by megaloblastic anaemia of pregnancy, and by the development of an antibody following transfusion. (3) The characteristic features were originally masked by secondary hypersplenism, and great symptomatic improvement followed splenectomy. 3. (4) The heredity of the condition and the significance of the presence of abnormal types of haemoglobin are discussed.
