Photocurrents have been measured at single crystalline p‐type GaSe electrodes under cathodic polarization where a Schottky barrier is formed at the contact to a suitable electrolyte. By using polarized light and varying the orientation between the c‐axis of the crystal and the light beam, the influence of the optical anisotropy and the anisotropic mobility of the electrons is exemplified by a varying quantum yield. The results can be explained by a theoretical model for the generation of the photocurrent at such a hetero‐junction, using two different values for the absorption coefficients and the diffusion lengths in the directions ∥c and ⟂c.
