This paper describes a method which has been used to stimulate cough artificially in human subjects in order to assess the therapeutic activity of antitussive prepara- tions.In the present work the method has been applied so as to compare the antitussive power of codeine phosphate, pipazethate hydrochloride (" selvigon "), and a placebo.Pharmacology Pipazethate is an ester of I-azo-phenothiazine-10carboxylic acid and has the following structure: N/tN-CO.O.CH2CH2 O.CH2CH2N.HHCl.
