This article is focused on the chemistry of cyclometalated platinum compounds containing fluorine. Several types of platinum(II) or platinum(IV) compounds with [C,N], [C,N,N′], [N,C,N], [C,N,N,C], [C,P], or [P,C,P] cyclometalating ligands and fluorine as fluoro ligands or as fluoro substituents in either the cyclometalated or the ancillary ligands are included. The effects of the fluorine substituents upon the reactivity and properties of the cyclometalated platinum compounds are also presented.
