The redistribution of 59 Fe in azalea plants was followed after allowing root absorption of the isotope under favorable conditions. During the 12 weeks of redistribution, high lime (Ca(HCO 3 ) 2 ) was found to have an inhibitory effect of redistribution of Fe. A marked interveinal pattern of chlorosis developed under high lime and autoradiographs demonstrated a localization of 59 Fe along the veins of the chlorotic leaves. Distribution of Fe within green leaves grown under low lime was more uniform than in those grown under high lime.
