A case is presented showing histologic features of an epidermal proliferation that is morphologically indistinguishable from basal cell epithelioma overlying a dermatofibroma. It is an extreme example of the epidermal changes which are often present in this type of lesion, and in our opinion the presence of ulceration would suggest a diagnosis of basal cell epithelioma.
