The heterogeneity of bovine serum albumin has been studied with respect to solubility in 3.0 M KCl in the pH‐range 4.7‐3.9. Both the ‐SH heterogeneity and adsorbed contaminants affect the pH‐solubility curves. Mercaptalbumin defatted by charcoal treatment was found to be completely homogeneous with regard to pH‐solubility properties.
