Pseudoexfoliation of the lens capsule (PELC) was detected in 11 (1.1%) of 1000 consecutive patients of an optometrist in Australia. Four of the patients having PELC also had glaucoma. Evidence of PELC should be sought routinely during optometric examination in view of the frequent association of this condition with glaucoma.
