The limits of solid solubility for the NaF-LiF system were determined by the x-ray diffraction method to be 0·65±0·02 mole% NaF in LiF, and 4·5±0·2 mole% LiF in NaF. The measurements indicate that the Na ion enters the LiF lattice substitutionally, while the Li ion is accepted interstitially as well as substitutionally by the NaF lattice.
