Dialysis catheter malposition incidentally reveals a persistent left superior vena cava.
Why the study?
Persistent left superior vena cava causes problems during cardiovascular surgery and catheterization procedures, making diagnosis before and after procedures important.
Case Report (n=1)
Persistent left superior vena cava should be considered when a dilated coronary sinus is observed on echocardiography or when catheter malposition occurs during central venous interventions.

Malpositioned dialysis catheter may signal PLSVC; leaves open whether routine pre-procedural imaging improves safety in catheter insertions.
Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is the most common anomaly of the thoracic venous system. It is usually asymptomatic and diagnosed incidentally during routine cardiovascular imaging.Since it causes problems in cardiovascular surgery and catheterization procedures, it is very important to be diagnosed before and after the procedure. In this study; we present our patient who had catheter malposition during permanent dialysis catheter insertion and diagnosed as PLSVC anomaly in further investigations.

İbrahim Çağrı Kaya (2022) conducted a case report in Persistent left superior vena cava (n=1). Permanent dialysis catheter insertion was evaluated on Diagnosis of persistent left superior vena cava. A 65-year-old male patient was incidentally diagnosed with a persistent left superior vena cava following catheter malposition during a permanent dialysis catheter insertion procedure.
