Developments in Extrusion Science and Technology

There have been a number of developments in the design and operation of extruders in the last ten years. The developments to be expected in the next decade will be primarily in the field of process control using the insights gained into compound behavior, processability testing and, especially, microprocessors. Increasing economic pressures will direct these changes. Processors who attempt to ignore these developments will be laboring under a self-imposed disadvantage, relative to their competitors.
