Summary and Conclusion The Solubility product. prindple has recently been used to interprete phosphate reactions in soils. Three steps are included in this approach; the first is a chemical and mineralogical search for the soil components likely involved in the phosphate reactions. The second is a calculation and evaluation of their solubility constants from thermodynamic data and from direct determination of various kinds. The third is the comparison of these values with the activities of the relevant ions actually found in soil solutions.
